Abcedarian

(ay-bee-see-DARE-ee-un)

An abcedarian poem has verses beginning with successive letters of the alphabet, but not necessarily consecutive.

Example:

A cat ate the mouse that
chomped on the worm that
dug through the soil that
loosed the old bridge that
squished him.
